Commercial growers can benefit from the Clovis Lande Gothic arch
hoop profile which has distinct advantages over the conventional semicircular
and flattened hoop profiles.
Customers can have confidence in the performance of their greenhouse
structures. Structural calculations in which Clovis Lande have invested
demonstrate that the Gothic profile of the hoop imparts far greater
strength to the structure than the use of semicircular or flattened
hoop profiles.
The Gothic profile encourages condensation run-off, enabling the
full exploitation of the properties of modern anti-drop films to be
derived. This has benefits on light transmission, and contributes
to a reduction in risk of crop disease and incidence of annoying drips
for staff.
The Gothic profile enhances the ability to shed snow. The profile
also enhances the ability to resist high crosswinds by interrupting
airflow over the structure and reducing uplift.
Back in 1985, we commissioned the A.F.R.C. Institute of Engineering
Research (formerly National Institute of Agricultural Engineering)
to provide structural load calculations of applied wind, snow and
crop loads for single and multispan greenhouses with film or rigid
plastic claddings. The data was then used to prepare a program which
could enable us to design our structures with the aid of a computer.
To complement our design capabilities, we have also made substantial
investment in programmable computer-controlled bending equipment,
swaging and sawing machines, presses and other equipment which together
ensure consistently high quality manufacture.
